- TAPES
- Madame Lynx - "Untitled" (Toronto, ON)
- This tape featured an assortment of hard house and fast
breaks. First side
- was pretty generic, but I really got into it by the end
of the second side.
- Madame Lynx played some solid breaks at high speed. Not
Bad. (DR)
-
- Jason Palma & Issac S. - "Refiltered Flavours"
(Toronto, ON)
- Two great DJ's, one great tape. First side mixed by Jason
Palma brings you
- some groovy house tracks with a bit of vocals. Issac
S. rocks the second
- side with some tracks that are a little more upbeat.
These two make a good
- team, hope to see more collaborations from these two.
(DR)
-
- Myka - "Stomp 2" (Toronto, ON)
- Myka has established himself as a brilliant technical
mixer, and he has the
- tracks to back him up. Although this tape is smooth from
start to finish,
- it just doesn't have the same energy that he usually
exudes in his previous
- tapes and live sets. (DR)
-
- The Stickmen - "The Stickmen, Vol. 1" (Toronto,
ON)
- Finally, the long awaited mixed tape by internationally
renowned producers/
- remixers/ DJ's: The Stickmen! You'd think this tape was
just a
- promotional tool for their own tracks... Wrong. The guys
mix it up just as
- they would in their live performances! The best of the
best. A definite
- must for any house music lover. (DR)
-
- DJ Drip - "Lighta" (Toronto, ON)
- Jungle DJ Drip mixes up a great tape with the best of
the old school and
- the newest of the new. Good tape, good scratching. The
only thing that
- needs work is the timing of the mixes, but that will
come with experience.
- I see good things in the future for DJ Drip. (DR)
-
-
- Taro - "Rock & Roll High School" (Calgary,
AB)
- There's nothing I like more than a well planned, well
executed tape. It's
- hard to classify this style, though. Big Beat? Breaks?
Whatever it is,
- it's good. Tracks by Fatboy Slim, Cold Cut, and Lionrock
to name a few,
- all put together very well. Cool rock & roll references
throughout the
- tape makes this on an interesting one to listen to. (DR)
-
- DJ Flex - "Ba Da Boom" (New York, NY)
- Hard house DJ Flex releases a greatly improved tape from
the last one we
- got. Hard and funky from beginning to end. Definitely
one of the better
- one's of the month. (DR)
-
- Xotec - "Volume 22" (Buffalo, NY)
- Another great tape! Wicked and funky progressive with
a flavouring of
- breaks, well mixed for a 'live' tape. Great mix of new
tracks, with some
- floor moving classics. Great! (DR)
