- Body & Soul - Vinyl 6 Hubert St. New York, NY
-
- This is what House music is all about. Body & Soul,
the only Sunday afternoon party in New York City occupies the same space
as the legendary Shelter, home of Timmy Regisford and garage heads of the
late 1980's.
-
- With Francois Kevorkian, Joe Clausell and Danny Krivit
on the decks from 3:00 pm till 10:00pm every Sunday, there is no better
place in the world to experience what House music is all about; positivity,
unity and banginí tracks. When you enter the legendary space the
first thing you notice is the diverse mix of people. Black, White, Hispanic,
Asian, male, female, straight & gay, everyone is here to get along
and groove to the best the New York underground has to offer. One of the
few places where everyone seems to know the words to records that havenít
even been released yet.
-
- On the particular Sunday that I happened to crawl out
of bed early enough to make the scene, Joclyn Brown was performing live.
The peak was of course her new release on Subliminal, "Fun" by
Da Mob Featuring Joclyn Brown. Not only was her performance everything
you would expect but the crowd definitely showed her lots of love in return.
And have you heard the Basement Jaxx remix of ìFunî? Can we
say BANGIN'!!
-
- If you've never been to a club where they spin House
Music the place to start, the place that defines House, and the best vibe
in the city is BODY & SOUL.
-
-
- Until next time..... everybody's Sweet Daddy Doug Gray
signing off.

- Super Funk'- Tuesday nites @ Izzy Bar 155 First Ave.
New York, NY
-
- Super Funk Tuesday's is the creation of New York City
Dj and Dance Music Authority columnist Oscar Poche. The venue is mid-size,
dark and loungey, and the music is thumpin'! Oscar plays everything from
latin to soulful house with a nod to the early garage scene. The clientele
is made up of East Village hipsters and dance music industry insiders.
-
- This past Tuesday Oscar began the night with a slamminí
set of classic 70's latin tracks and wrapped up with the latest underground
tracks. Highlights included a sweeter than sweet mix of Kerri Chandler's
"Atmosphere" and Dj Pierreís "The Don", two
new releases tearing up the underground here in New York. Later in the
evening Tommy Bones from Connecticut, picked up where Oscar left off and
the vibe was all good.
- - Tuesday nites @ Izzy Bar 166h a slammin set of classic
the New York underground has to offer here and Dj Pierre's "The Don"(eases
tearing up the scene)
-
- May 5th at Super Funk youíll find Melvin Moore
and Chris Pagli spinning and May 12th, Lamont Ward aka Dj Big L and Oscar
poche hit the decks. Admission is free, yes free and there are Cd giveaways
and lots of party people. Check it out!
